Since 1969, the National Balloon Festival has been going strong. You can watch up to 100 balloons fly from 6:30 am in the morning through the evening,  participate in a 5K road race, have a pancake and omlette breakfast, go on balloon rides, bathtub races, car and truck show, partake in the craft show, block party, nite glo extravaganza, parade, musical entertainment, fireworks and more. The event takes place at various locations on the Memorial Balloon Field in Indianola, Iowa along Highway 92.

It is now in its 43rd year and will run from July 26 through August 3, 2013.

Imagine the skies becoming alive with a brilliant display of color and competition by highly skilled, dedicated pilots who come from across the nation and worldwide. There will be nine action-packed days of pure enjoyment and family entertainment!

Morning Admission FREE

  • Evening Admission $3 Adults or $10 per car load (includes parking)
  • Kids 12 and under are FREE
