Come now, would it really be so unusual for Cyndi Lauper to host Saturday Night Live? She could be the host and the musical guest, saving SNL a bundle on having to book two acts for the night. Or Carol Burnett? Or, according to the WoW Report, insert random gay icon (Liza, Mamie Van Doren, La Cicciolina) who has never hosted SNL here.
Since the success of the “Let’s Get Betty White to Host SNL” campaign on Facebook, Facebook pages have been popping up to get other entertainers who, it may seem unbelievable but, have never had a shot at hosting the show in all its 35 years on the air. Perhaps Carol Burnett was busy hosting her own show back in the day when SNL first came calling? Will SNL be guided by Facebookers for future host selections? We’ll see when the show returns for a 36th season in the fall.
