Not one, but two of these larger than life origami tigers will be on display at the San Francisco Zoo, January 17 – February 12, 2011.
The tigers, created by Sydney-based Laboratory for Architectural Vision (LAVA) and adopted by the World Wildlife Federation, are to raise awareness that tigers worldwide are actually becoming an endangered species. Only 3,200 remain in the wild.
According to their website (yes, the tigers have their own website), “the Digital Origami Tigers measure at a spectacular 26′ x 9.8′ and weigh 265 lbs.”
Not in San Francisco? Not a problem. There are plans for the origami tigers to tour the US after their first stop at the San Francisco Zoo, with visits to Dallas, Chicago, New York and Washington, DC in the works.
