Festival of Fashion in Dublin

A dash of glamour has been thrown into the mix: Dublin Festival of Fashion has arrived. The launch party took place last night, with an invite-only fashion show taking place in the Powerscourt Centre, showcasing the best of the shopping haven’s designs, styled by Aisling Farinella. Where was I while all this was going on? Backstage, frantically zipping and unzipping dresses, buckling shoes and picking up clothes flung on the floor by intimidatingly beautiful models as they whizz through the backstage area and back out onto the catwalk in an array of guises.
Although fashion shows are, naturally, much less glamourous and mysterious behind the catwalk, I think I like it there even more. But then I buzz of pressure… and I did get to touch a Philip Treacy hat.
Thanks to WWIWT TV for the video

There’s plenty more lined up for the festival though, and the rest of the events will be open to the public. There will be catwalks on Grafton Street and Henry Street, a random parade of models through the city’s streets, style workshops at the likes of BT2 and A Rubanesque and also the launch of a new art and fashion clubnight fantastically titled ‘Daddy or Chips’ at The Good Bits. You may well see me there.
