A large swathe of the Thames will be transformed under plans to build towers along London’s Thames River. The new initiative will include 750 flats in steel and glass blocks ranging from 12 to 20 storeys, a 136-room hotel, health spa, shops and restaurants. For the first time in more than 30 years, people will be able to walk easily between west and east London. While it still needs to be approved by the mayor, if it does, plans will begin to start building in 2011.
