A graduate of Kingston, LCF and Limerick College of Art & Design, Stephanie Grace Foy launched her own clothing line last year, when her MA collection being selected to be shown at September’s London Fashion Week.
Whilst her first collection showed bags of promise, it’s her new one, for Autumn-Winter 2011, that’s really made us sit up and pay attention. Foy builds upon some of the concepts and motifs from the first collection (artfully deconstructed shapes; a sleek, modern finish; the use of perspex), but works them to a higher standard this time round.
The loose drapery juxtaposed with shiny, synthetic materials simultaneously evokes both the goddesses of classical sculpture and a sort of ultra-modern action movie heroine (or even dominatrix!). It can be hard to find a comfortable balance between elegance and uncompromising modernity, but here Foy shows us how…

Rosa Abbott is an arts, fashion and culture obsessive originating from Yorkshire, England, and currently living in Dublin, Ireland.
