Nothing to do on Sunday? Perfect. Head down to Kew Gardens for a lovely day of cinema powered in the most delightful way: through pedal-power.
To mark the end of Climate Week, Electric Pedals will be installing their pedal powered cinema to show all kinds of green goodness – including some of Green Thing’s videos! A single cyclist will power a DVD player and an LED projector which are built into a repurposed guitar speaker amp. Don’t worry, it won’t be one poor soul doing all of the pedaling. Anyone that attends can have a go.
The installation will take place from 9:30am – 5:30pm in King William?s Temple at Kew, which overlooks the Mediterranean Garden, a lush and unusual setting. It’s the perfect set up for a tiny picture house and for a restful and thought-provoking Sunday afternoon.
In addition to our videos, there will be screenings of Beyond the Brink, an impressive documentary made by 18- year old Ross Harrison, a film made in house by Kew Gardens which clarifies misunderstandings about plants and climate, and a selection of talks donated by the Do Lectures.
It should be a fabulous day out and we hope to see you there!
Ps- The installation at Kew swiftly follows on from Electric Pedals huge installation at the Royal Albert Hall for WWF and Earth Hour. On Saturday 26th between 8.30-9.30pm 60 bikes and volunteer cyclists will be generating electricity for powerful projectors to beam natural world footage onto the side of the grand Royal Albert Hall in a one-off demonstration against climate change. If you’re intrigued by pedal powered things, this is the weekend for you.
