If you’re anything like me and love the Science Museum, you will be delighted to know they’re opening a new gallery space. Even if you don’t share my love for science, if you’re looking for something fun and free to do in the next couple weeks pop into London’s Science Museum. Beginning on December 4th, they’ll now house a permanent gallery space – “Atmosphere: Exploring Climate Science“.
There will be various interactive areas where people can learn about different aspects of climate science. For example, there will be five “story zones” each using imaginative, hands-on exhibits to explore different aspects of climate science, such as the source of the Earth’s climatic zones, the way greenhouse gases affect the Earth’s energy balance and the way humans have altered the carbon cycle.
You can engage with objects such as a tree ring sample and a stalagmite sample (you know, those things that form in caves) and other tools used by scientists to understand climate history. There will also be areas to learn about climate adaptation and how humans will need to adapt to the changing environment. Visitors are encouraged to leave their own thoughts on climate change in one part of the exhibition.
It looks like it will be a great addition to Science Museum!
