A few months back I posted about Mary Katrantzou, the London-based designer who’s spreading ripples through the fashion world. I instantly fell in love with Katrantzou’s bold and sculptural designs, so I was over the moon when I heard they were designing a collection for Topshop – which will no doubt be a fraction of the cost of her usual designs. And now there’s not long to wait: the collection will open on February 14.
According to the QUEEN of Vogue Japan and RANDOM CAPITALISATION, Anna DELLA Russo, at the flagship store in London, you’ll also be able to get your nails done to match the bold prints, courtesy of Wah Nails. Now that’s coordination.
Naturally, the collection is nowhere near as complex or intricate as the one we saw waltzing down the runway (below) – it simply wouldn’t be viable to produce such designs on a mass scale, and for inexpensive prices. But the Topshop line still does capture the essence of Mary Katranzou’s signiture statement-making style – clean lines, bright colours, a touch of the tribal or tropical, and a strong impact. The versatile shift dresses could be styled for sunny afternoons – with some sandals, big shades and a satchel for laid-back bohemian cool – or with nude heels and a sleek updo for a polished night-time look.
