If you haven’t cooked with truffle oils, you don’t know what you’re missing. Some of the top chefs use them in some of the best restaurants in the world and while truffle oils may be a l’il decadent and rich, when incorporated into your cooking in small and subtle ways, it can transform the dish.
When the folks at daRosario said they’d send us some of their delicious truffle oils, butters and may to review, we were excited to test them out. What foodie wouldn’t be over the moon?
Truffles are essentially ectomycorrhizal fungi and typically found in close association with tree roots and as most foodies know, some of the truffle species are considered delicious and decadent.
French gourmet Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin apparently called truffles “the diamond of the kitchen”. And, they’re used widely not just in French cooking, but in other parts of the world as well including Greece, Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, Eastern Europe and the Middle East among others.
Below is the Black Truffle Flavored Oil by daRosario, one of our favorite truffle oils we tested by this brand.
As a mushroom lover, we were all over this scrumptious Porcini mushroom flavored oil as well from the daRosario collection.
They also produce truffle mayonnaise, butter and honey as well, all of which make great holiday gifts.
Or, even consider a basket with a variety of their products as a gift this holiday season. All of daRosario truffle oils and other products are 100% USDA Organic.
Behind the brand’s quality truffles, truffle oils and truffle products is Rosario Safina who has served as President of daRosario, who tout themselves the largest truffle company in history. Apparently Rosario became the driving force behind the popularization of truffles and truffle oils, through a myriad of ways, including his book “Truffles” which came out now 15 years ago.
He was one of the first importers of Iranian Caviar to the states and author of the first U.S. published book on Truffles. And, we love that their products are organic as noted above.
Be sure to check out our food & wine section as well as our lifestyle products section for more inspiration this holiday season. And, of course, this year’s holiday gift guide should help too!
More information on their products, including how to order can be found on their website.
