Vin des Pyrénées in Paris’ Bastille

Comments Off on Vin des Pyrénées in Paris’ Bastille

This past December, I went to an authentic looking brasserie called Vin des Pyrénées that served traditional French fare in Paris’ Bastille, not far from Le Marais.

Roasted chicken, salads, fois gras, duck and rich soups perfect for a cold winter’s day were on the menu. As for ambience, think brasserie style and seemingly busy at nearly every hour of the evening. Like a lot of restaurants still do in Paris, they have matches for your use that you can grab on the way in or out, something I used to love to do as a kid in the states when the entire country used to smoke. Parisians still do even if they’re not allowed to light up in select places. The coffee was also great, but don’t expect a serious glass of wine to accompany your traditional but basic meal at this Bastille eatery. That said, it’s worth a visit.
