I had an opportunity to see Aida performed at the Prague Opera House. For those not familiar with the classic renowned opera production, it is done in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by Antonio Ghislanzoni, based on a scenario written by French Egyptologist Auguste Mariette. Aida was first performed at the Khedivial Opera House in Cairo December 24, 1871, conducted by Giovanni Bottesini. Below is just a short snippet to give you a flavor of what was an outstanding performance. Unlike the states and other parts of the world, Prague embraces the arts, particularly classical music and opera. Because of this, tickets are incredibly reasonably priced to see and hear some of the best opera and classical musical performers. My third-row center seat was roughly $67, at a lousy exchange rate. (the price would likely be four times that in a major American city like New York, Los Angeles or San Francisco).
