Between Florence and Coos Bay, we explored the fifty miles or so of sand dunes along the coast. They apparently form the largest expanse of coastal dunes in the USA. It was hard not to spend some time here, hiking along some of the trails and walking along the beach.

The coast got a little rougher as we headed south….and the water was cold. What a gorgeous place to get lost in however. My memories of the coast include: naps on a blanket with a book and a journal, long walks on the sand, lazy drives and funky bistros in small coastal towns.
And there was that gorgeous day on the beach that you had to walk through water and over rocks to get to……the day with the crashing waves.
