Set on a rise between Boulder and Denver, Colorado, FlatIron Crossing’s Village has blue skies, fun restaurants and top-flight movies, not to mention outdoor concerts in the summer. Known for shopping, there are major brands on-site such as the usual suspects, Coach, Coldwater Creek, Bebe, BC Surf & Sport, Banana Republic, J. Crew, J Jill, Papyrus, LOFT, The Container Store and others.
While shopping and eating is a big part of the Village, the compelling thing about FlatIron during the summer is their outside music performances. The summer schedule includes bands that play everything from Motown and Blues to Soul, Eighties music, funk and hip hop. The June line-up is below:
JUNE
06/07/12 – Phat Daddy
06/14/12 – The Champions, an Eighties Band
06/21/12 – Chase N The Dream – Motown/Old School R&B
06/28/12 – Soul X
I was visiting the week of June 11, so was able to see the band of a grade school friend, The Champions, which an eighties band. From Journey and Rush to Van Halen and Boston, I went back to memory lane. What amazed me is how many people danced on the open outside dance floor, something that wouldn’t happen as “quickly” in the Bay Area, I thought.
The night was just about perfect; a pretty common temperature for this time of year, my friend from Boulder told me who brought me to the outdoor free concert.
Parents were dancing with children, children were dancing with each other, couples were swaying to slow Reo songs and people were eating burgers, sliders, wings and pizza from nearby vendors in the mall.
