I headed north today to Napa for a bit of shopping, cycling and wine tasting. I can hardly wait to see my gorgeous purple Cannondale. (she sits in a New Jersey warehouse waiting to be shipped….alas, soon dear bike, soon).
My Hungarian friend Andre who spends half of his time in Cambridge and the other half in Berkeley, dragged us to an event hosted by director Francis Ford Coppola in Rutherford, just north of Napa.
Most widely known for The Godfather, he also has a a vineyard in Napa Valley – more on the history of his connection to wine here.
The event was at the vineyard in this fabulous estate, and started out as a gathering in the courtyard with Chardonnay and chestnuts that just came off a “roasting fire.” We were then greeted by children in festive colors singing carols, and samples of salmon, cheese and avocado joined by a dry, earthy Cabernet. His estate is nearby – a little different from the flats I’ve been looking at in the city.
