There are canyons in the US that are just spectacular to observe. Bryce, Zion and the Grand are a few of the most well known. What does the canyon in front of you look like?
You say there is no canyon in front of you because you live in Florida and there are no canyons. Well, there are canyons and there are canyons. The former are the ones we see made of rock formations, some red, some brown, some with water and some dry. The other canyons are the ones we face frequently to get from where we are to where we want to be.
How anxious we are to cross that canyon says a lot about our lives. We can move quickly, jump high, jump far and make it to the other side. Or we can fail and fall far down.
If we are slow and plodding we may take a mule or donkey to go down into the canyon and then up the other side. Depending on the slope of the hill, the capability of the donkey, weather and a few other obstacles, the time to cross the canyon is long or never. There is also the possibility of not making it, or failing.
The third option is to not attempt any crossing and give up on getting to the other side.
There it is. The canyon in front of us should be crossed. We should act on our desire to get to the other side and we owe it to ourselves to make the effort. How we do it is not as important as making the attempt. It is through good effort that we have any chance of succeeding. If we decide to lay back and not even try, the choices will all be made for us.
Some canyons are in fact way too wide to cross. Those distances need to be measured and analyzed for what you want to do. I would have liked to play linebacker for any football team. That was not going to happen as my ability, capability and athleticism was way below any reasonable football standard. Pick the canyons that can provide a meaningful result when you arrive on the other side.
The views can be terrific. One can only imagine what it would be like on the other side of canyon. Take the risk to get to the other side. The view may be better or worse, but it will be seen through your eyes. Canyons need to be crossed. How we do it is called living.
