It seems being green and environmentally friendly is a trend being embraced by businesses, super stars, everyday people and artists.
One such creative is Banksy. A graffiti artist with such a recognisable and unique style of his own, Banksy has joined the ranks of the “green” soldiers.
His work is celebrated by underground art-lovers the world over, and his pieces aren’t just art for the sake of art. He recently installed an children’s ride as an anti-BP statement. You can see the photo here.
He began his environmental pieces with the “I don’t believe in Global Warming” campaign where his works were a sore reminder of the effects of the worldwide issue. Sometimes subtle and sometimes hard to ignore his artworks draw attention to issues that most people try to ignore or even worse aren’t even aware of in the first place.
His latest work in the environmental theme is poignant and raw. A bear tries to catch the skeleton of a fish near a body of dirty water. A young child builds a sandcastle with each turret titled “Tesco” near a beach and a boy stands in a pile of rubble and states “I remember when all this was trees”.
The images are simultaneously aesthetically beautiful and disturbing. The series is called Banksy Outdoors and is worth a look. It’s always good to see someone with such talent using that skill for a good cause.
