We recently attended one of San Francisco’s A List events over New Years called Alist Passport to the World, an annual event the Westin St. Francis Hotel holds every year. In addition to this fabulous event which boasted countless rooms of dancing to 15 DJ’s playing various types of music, taiko drummers, performers, 6 dance areas and the ever so fun Spazmatics 1980’s band, they had a CIRQUE inspired benefit ball on the Westin’s Penthouse Floor. The CIRQUE event brought in world champion Cyr Wheelist, Stiltwalkers, a Juggler, Unicyclist, Hoop Dancer & other entertainment throughout the course of the evening.
Also cool and new this year, was a smaller VIP 100 person dinner which started earlier in the evening also on the Penthouse floor. In addition to champagne, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, a three course meal included salad, fish and beef as a main and scrumptious dessert plate!
We loved the energy from the Cinderella-like fanciful, yet whimsical decor of Alexandra’s Ballroom, most notably the live entertainment that weaved its way through the 7,000 square foot space. The wheelist was most definitely a highlight!
Below is a video I captured of him in action…..you’ll see the stilt walkers in the background.
Some of the other entertainment that worked its way throughout the rooms on the Penthouse floor.
The views from the Westin’s 32nd floor were spectacular as well — note that we only brought our Canon Rebel with a light lens given the volume of people and dancing expected over several hours, so the quality of the images are not as high as we typically do – trust me however, the view was to die for!!!
And, of course, it was a black-tie affair so it was oh so lovely to get dressed up in traditional elegant garb. Be sure to check out AList San Francisco events as they throw several throughout the year.
