The Castro Street Fair is located in the heart of San Francisco’s Castro District, at the intersection of Market & Castro Streets and the surrounding area. The Castro Street Fair is a community street celebration that was founded by Harvey Milk in 1974.

Hundreds of local artists, vendors, craftspeople, and organizations lined the streets and celebrated the diversity of the neighborhood earlier today. The line up for the event can be found here. It’s a time when the Castro becomes alive with color, energy, food, art, dancing and more.

On the main stage today was Casey Ley, who is a gay stand up comic and lives in San Francisco. His jokes have been called “profoundly hilarious” and his wit “lusty and erudite.” — MSN.com.  He’s earned his comedy chops in California’s biggest clubs and as host of The Morning Show on Pirate Cat Radio and his comedy has been featured in SFSketchfest for three years running and in Rooftop Comedy’s Out Loud Comedy & Art Festival.

Jazz vocalist Joshua Klipp also performed on the main stage. He has spent the last six years focused on his pop music project, and continues to work with trail-blazing music producer Kristopher Cloud while foraying back into his first vocal love – jazz. In March 2011, Josh released his first complete jazz cd, “Josh Klipp & The Klipptones, Live at Enrico’s”! Now, Josh sets out with acclaimed pianist Julie Wolf (Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls) and Studio Engineer Jon Evans (Tori Amos) to begin work on a tribute album to his jazz muse, the iconic Chet Baker.

Other acts included Freeplay Dance Crew, a volunteer company whose diversity reflects the communities of the area, Love Fool who will make you love the 80s and 90s all over again, Pop Rocks which is one of the wildest live 1980s dance bands in San Francisco and Club 90s who performed hip-hop and alternative rock.
