This June in Reykjavik, Iceland, PopTech will partner with the Rockefeller Foundation and the Office of the President of Iceland, to host a visionary gathering on the subject of resilience.
PopTech 2012: Toward Resilience will bring together a carefully-chosen network of researchers, practitioners and leaders in fields such as global business, international development, climate adaptation, social psychology, economics, systems ecology, public health, emerging technology, disaster relief and innovation, for a trans-disciplinary dialogue like no other.
In this time of turbulence, many people are joining in an increasingly urgent strategic conversation about resilience of all kinds. What causes one system to break down and another to rebound? In the face of constant disruption, can we build better shock absorbers for ourselves, or communities and the planet as a whole?
Iceland has become a remarkable laboratory for social and ecological resilience. Participants will have the option to take guided tours around the country to explore its incredible landscapes, culture, green energy systems, and resilience exemplars.
