Rome early this year.   It rained more than not, in that Seattle, London drizzle kind of way; those misty skies you thought would never make a clearing for blue sky and sun. Despite the drizzle, the city loomed of color, history and culture around every corner, including cafes that drew you in for a strong coffee or a gelato.

I found myself sampling gelato on every corner, eating homemade pasta every evening, bargaining with every shop owner, trying on silk, hats and shoes, oh yes Italian shoes and walking for miles down narrow alleys day after day despite the gray damp weather.

Below are a few shots taken on a walk up Palentine Hill in Ancient Rome and in the Trastevere area which I meandered through for hours on end after leaving the Vatican on more than one day.
