Rebuilding in Haiti for a More Sustainable Future

The Buckminster Fuller Challenge recognizes innovative strategies with the potential to solve humanity’s most pressing problems. Each year, a distinguished jury awards $100,000 to the winning strategy to support further development and implementation. This week, we’re featuring the 21 semi-finalists currently under consideration for the 2011 award.

Catalyzed by the need to rebuild post-earthquake Haiti, the Haiti Onward Building Sustainable Pathways Initiative brings 15 Haitian and international organizations together to support the development of a central Sustainability Hub and 9 regional hubs across Haiti. The hubs will host a range of programs that foster sustainable economic development and community building, provide public services, and facilitate information and knowledge exchange.
