We were thrilled to receive a couple of ear phones in from Jabra to test out, both of them dedicated to sports and adventure enthusiasts. In other words, ear phones that are perfect for the adventure travelers and mobile warrior. Both the Jabra Sport Coach Special Edition and the Jabra Elite Sport are great options for those on the go and who want a durable ear phone set that is sweat resistant, comfortable and snug when doing physical activities.
The Jabra Sport Coach
It’s our first opportunity to test out products from Jabra — be sure to see our technology section for our write-up on their Jabra Freeway speaker for the car. They offer some gems in this category.
Jabra is also known for their ear phones and while we’re new to reviewing Jabra products so can’t compare their latest model to previous ones, we’re huge fans of the newest Jabra Sport Coach.
Their Jabra Sport Coach offers quality wireless audio (for listening to music — think gym workouts or power walks in your favorite city). They tout 5 hours of playtime and something they call in-ear audio coaching, which allows you to personalize your ear phones to your workout. This is a godsend for gym and running enthusiasts.
The Jabra Sport Coach offers a bunch of headphones that lock into your ears and won’t fall out, a necessary for anyone playing a sport or working out in the gym. We can concur that they do fit snugly, which so many other like-solutions don’t. Not only do they fit well, but they have something they refer to as COMPLY Isolation Premium Foam Ear Tips which provide enhanced bass and passive noise cancellation….great for phone calls in noisier environments.
There’s also a built-in TrackFit motion sensor which automatically counts your reps — how cool is that? Using the Jabra Sport Life app, you can build a customized workout to better analyze your performance as well. They’re available over on Amazon in a fun blue, yellow and red.
The Jabra Elite Sport
The Jabra Elite Sport is also on our must list for a bunch of reasons. First, the Elite Sport is SMALL and it comes in its own convenient carrying case (a super durable one I might add), which is where and how it charges.
I love the latter because this hard case reduces the likelihood of you losing those ear phones in your purse, briefcase or backpack and it’s such a convenient way to charge them. Once charged, it is slated to give you nine hours of battery life.
The quality is top notch, allowing for both great phone calls and crystal clear audio when listening to music, especially during a workout or a run. This is a better solution for listening to music than phone calls however — we’d recommend the Sport Coach over the Elite if you make a lot of phone calls in noisy spots.
Designed for the adventure enthusiast, the Elite Sport is a great option for people looking for a useful ear phone set when working out or when on the road. They’re also great for use in the car since you can just use one ear bud.
Also worth noting is their waterproof design and the fact that it comes with a 3 year warranty against sweat – yes, really. This is the case with the Jabra Sport Coach as well.
The Jabra Elite Sport touts 4.5 hours of talk/music time in earbuds and you can wear one ear bud or two as noted above. Built in is an in-ear precision heart rate monitor and fitness analyzer. Like the Jabra Sport Coach, the Elite offers personalized in-ear audio coaching. Additionally, there’s a race pace calculator and recovery advice.
We love that they not only offer different ear bud sizes but 3 sizes of EarWings as well (S, M, L).
There’s a free app you can connect to as well — super useful if you’re planning to use these for workouts, running and other sports. The set is available over on Amazon.
Their Jabra Elite 65t is similar to the sport in many ways. We love how elegant the design is and it comes with a stylish charging case that you can easily fit into your purse or luggage.
The call experience is decent (not as clear as my wired set with adjustable microphone, but I didn’t expect it to be). I even got reasonable call quality in my car as well as at the gym. You can adjust the volume of your own voice in a call, fine tune your audio and turn caller ID on or off, which we think is a really great feature.
There’s also a 5-way graphic equalizer for music, so you can adjust it to what works best for you. Plenty of music and track control. You can also adjust the ability to hear surroundings without removing the earbuds from your ears. Head on over to their website for more, features and details and how to order.
