At the GetGeeked fall event in San Francisco recently, we discovered a the HyperXGaming folks who build some great headsets that can not only be used in a gaming environment, but for people who want a wider audio range at a reasonable price point.
We were able to get some products in for testing, and although they offer gaming keyboards and other products, we focused on the HyperX Cloud Revolver and the HyperX Cloud Alpha.
The HyperX Cloud Revolver by HyperXGaming
The HyperX Cloud Revolver touts a wider audio range that creates depth and width for improved audio precision. We put it to the test with a couple of teenagers (makes a great holiday gift btw — be sure to see our holiday gift guide for more great ideas), and with one traveler who was making a short plane trip in November.
While not a Bose experience, HyperXGaming is not trying to be something they’re not, however they’re also available in a much lower price point. And, sound does get muffled, enough to take a nap and hide away for awhile, while still hearing what you need to hear around you during whatever experience you’re having (gaming or listening to music for example).
Other features include re-engineered audio profiles which create a larger sound stage that’s ideal for FPS
and open environment game play and for a concert hall-like experience when listening to music.
HyperX Cloud Alpha by HyperXGaming
Then, there’s their HyperX Cloud Alpha, which offers what they refer to as groundbreaking Dual Chamber Drivers. The benefit? Their fabulous design and technology is aimed to give your audio more distinction and clarity by reducing the distortion. We definitely noticed the difference between the two headsets.
Behind the scenes are two dual chambers which separate the bass from the mids and highs, allowing optimal tuning for cleaner, smoother sound.
The Cloud Alpha headset builds upon HyperX’s foundation however what sets it apart from the others is that it offers a premium red memory foam (great for Millennials and gamers) and more pliable leatherette on the exterior. The sound is sweet too, so while definitely the clarity is a benefit for gamers, the cleaner smoother sound is a great ‘win’ for music snobs as well who don’t want to spend a fortune for a better audio experience.
The aluminum frame is super durable as well, which means that it is designed to take rigors of daily play and offers a tough, detachable braided cable. The detachable noise-cancellation microphone is certified by Discord and TeamSpeak, so the team communication will be top notch.
This HyperXGaming headset is also multi-platform compatible with in-line audio controls, which should be a huge plus for gamers on PC, PS4, Xbox One and other platforms with a 3.5 mm port. The sound is bolder and purer than previous versions.
The HyperXGaming products are designed in Germany. More information on the HyperXGaming product set including these fabulous two headsets can be found on their website, including how to order.
