A Portable Purifier For Tap Water Anywhere in the World

Comments Off on A Portable Purifier For Tap Water Anywhere in the World
For those of us who travel to more remote locations, safe drinking water is always a factor when planning. I’ve done iodine, tried more sophisticated systems and more often than not, I end up buying bottled water even to brush my teeth.
I just discovered the PuriBloc GoPure Personal Water Purifier, a way to purify tap water with a pod small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, for only around $25.
You simply drop it into pitcher or bottle that you want to fill with water, turn the tap on and it starts to purify the tap water immediately. It uses a patented PuriBloc technology which helps to filter out dangerous impurities and one pod replaces 2,000 plastic water bottles, lasts up to six months, and can purify up to 264 gallons of water. Pet lovers will appreciate the fact that they even have a product for pets – yes really!

Removes 99% of Lead and Arsenic,

97% of Chlorine and Fluoride

Inside the Pod is an advanced, highly porous ceramic made from food grade minerals of biogenic origin. The GoPure Pod continuously attracts and adsorbs impurities, balances pH and releases valuable trace minerals and the water tastes great too.
They sent us one to try out and since we’re not heading to an area where drinking water is an issue anytime soon, we tried it out in our coffee maker – yup, you can use it there too. You can drop the GoPure Pod into any bottle, pitcher, glass, or coffee maker.

Here’s a cool factoid from their site about their PuriBloc technology. It is apparently formulated from Diatomite, the naturally occurring fossilized remains of diatoms, which is found in all waters on Earth for over 20 million years.

Science and technology nerds will appreciate this level of detail.  At the heart of the GoPure Pod is an advanced ceramic, which has a doubly porous structure which creates an enormous exposed surface area throughout.

The ceramic contains a variety of charged groups, which can interact with oppositely charged materials in the water causing adsorption. When in water, the impurities get adsorbed onto the ceramic which includes matter that contributes to that horrible stale tastes and odors over time.

They recommend rinsing the pod periodically to remove any adsorbed impurities and to keep it clean.
