The Interior Design Dialogue was held in August of this year, and the topic of the day: Responsible Design.
This much-talked about gathering of international design aficionados was held at Decorex in Johannesburg. The responsible thinking notion was presented by the International Federation of Interior Designers/Architects at the one-day Interior Design Dialogue last month.
The audience was left in no doubt that every designer is responsible in their own way of taking up the challenge of creating responsibly thus ensuring a sustainable future.
This kind of unified “green” thinking among artists is brilliant to see, and if every industry was to move towards thinking more responsibly in a united way then we might see some amazing results in the future of our planet.
Mexico’s president of the International Interior Design Association, Luz Maria Duran said, “We have to think responsible. The future is here already”.
Some of the images Duran showed the audience during her presentation were of vertical gardens in urban areas. Not just for aesthetic reasons, these gardens can provide food and although the idea of urban farming is a new one, the UN has initiated a number of projects to encourage communities across the globe to support themselves through urban farming.
