Vinni Puh Idet v Gosti is simply put, Winnie the Pooh in Russian. A friend of mine grew up with his stories and anecdotes, which are quite similar to our own in many ways, but with very amusing and different differences.
Below, Chapter 2 of the Soviet version of Winnie the Pooh (1971), is available for viewing with English subtitles from Artem, Lesha & Co. The Soviet Vinni may be drawn more simply, but comes across as more real, more complex, and wiser than his Disney counterpart. This is truly a masterpiece of Soviet animation, and may change the way you see Vinni (aka Winnie).
