You don’t think of Istanbul in Turkey as the place of all things modern, all things hip design or timeless glamour, yet the Georges Hotel Galata aims to set a new standard for breed of cosmopolitan luxury. They’re all about things luxury, from sea view rooms to French cuisine and wines. Also targeting business travelers, they have complimentary wifi throughout the hotel, in-room yoga sessions, massage and airport transfer.
Le Fumoir is the attached French-style restaurant, where chef Sara Tabrizi hangs her hat. I was thrilled to learn that a female was holding down the fort – go Sara!
She says about famous french recipe Coq au Vin: “Day by day it is getting impossible to reach to the natural and healthy food, for this reason Coq Au Vin, which we use organically fed ranch roosters in it’s the recipe, is a very special and precious meal. For this classic French recipe we marinate the rooster with cognac for one day, and before roasting, cook it over low-heat with braised shallots and sauteed mushrooms in full-bodied red wine for three hours.”
The rooms are modern but elegant as are the very chic but stark bathrooms.
The bedrooms match this design – modern, chic but simple and barebones. No frills or cushy carpets and pillows here.
The view is nothing short of stunning. If you want a l’il modern luxury and Turkey is your next stop, give them a shot and let us know what you think and learn.
