Noche en Vela

Inspired by the Nuit Blanche in Paris, The Sleepless Night invited us to enjoy and enhance the concept of the night in Buenos Aires.

On Saturday March 26, from 7 pm until dawn, a broad and diverse cultural event organized by the Ministry of Culture of the city of Buenos Aires provided an unique opportunity to walk, look, listen, participate, enjoy and rediscover the city in one night through art and culture. As it happens every year in Paris and in Madrid, Berlin, St. Petersburg or Toronto.

“La Noche en Vela”, was spread out on three venues (Central, South and North) of the city, over 100 events in 60 artistic-cultural meeting points of Buenos Aires. Music, theater, dance, video projections and multimedia installations were the main attractions. In addition, hundreds of bars, restaurants and pizza places in the city joined the party extending their hours and offering special menus, 50 Buenos Aires hotels offered promotions and discounts.

“La Noche en Vela” had the participation of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra at the Obelisk(a national monument). The folklore of Coplanacu Duo and a tango show in a vertical stage. Monumental lighting displays at the Obelisk, the Law University, the Planetarium and the Tower of the Parque de la Ciudad. A giant video game and a Digital Zoo in Avenida de Mayo. In Villa Lugano, Plaza de Los Angeles show will display aerial acrobats, a giant inflatable angel, and a storm of light, sound, and a thousand kilos(2200 lbs.) of feathers.

There was theatre in the Barolo Palace and the Botanical Garden. A 3D Mapping on the entrance of the cemetery of Recoleta and an Uruguayan Murga in Plaza de Mayo. Street art in Barracas and world music in the bars of the city notables. Contemporary dance and experimental music in Plaza Francia. Morning talks at bookstores and Jam Writing in Palermo. Video projections on buildings and fireworks. Open libraries, reading space, stories and games for all ages.

All this and much more activities made the night an unforgettable experience for Buenos Aires culture. Celebrating the creativity of the artists, the diversity of events and public participation of all ages.Noche en Vela
