Want to Outsource Your Electronic Hardware? Read On!

Simon Advanced Innovations’ Simon O’Keefe (far right) gave me the run down on their B2B pitch and their customers during a recent trip to Ireland.

If you go to their website, you’ll find the value-add and the whys, but the bottom line in one sentence is this: if you want to outsource electronic hardware, talk to them.

Their target audience? They have several, but think: education, wireless/cellular, energy and interactive white boards (obviously the latter is prime for the education market as well but corporations also have a need as does government).

Advanced Innovations’ customers are software companies whose product runs on medium- to high-volume electronic hardware, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) who face customer demand that they add electronics to their products and smaller competitors in global markets who want the electronic product capability of their larger competitors but not the related capital investment.

Essentially, they aggregate demand. You want to build in Puerto Rico as one example, but you really need to focus your attention on marketing, research, distribution and sales, outsource to them to handle the hardware build. “We are a virtual factory and design house,” Simon said to me in an interview when I was in Dublin recently. “If you’re a company that sells to schools and part of your solution requires hardware, we can build the hardware part of it, so you can focus on other aspects of your business. We can also manage the whole process.”

They’re also working in the ‘smart energy’ market. Imagine having a mobile phone connected to your central heating unit hub so you can monitor and control your energy wirelessly. Pilots are currently being executed in northern California: more details coming soon. Today, Advanced Innovations conducts operations in Ireland, China, India, the UK and in the USA.
