The Stately Captain Lord Mansion Dates Back To 1814

The stately Captain Lord Mansion is an old New England mansion that was built back in 1814 and converted to an inn in 1978 along the coast in Maine. Located in an area filled with beautifully preserved 17th- and 18th–century homes, the mansion sits atop the town green with maple trees lining the way. It’s lavishly decorated and exceptionally detailed. The halls are graced with many European works of art, and though elaborate in its approach, it’s not stuffy. You’ll find enticing features in the beautifully appointed rooms, each named after a ship the Lord family built. Amenities include four poster beds, gas fireplaces, down comforters, heated marble and tile bathroom floors, double whirlpools, Jacuzzis, and body-jet showers.

They have suites as well as regular rooms as options depending on your mood and budget. Below is an example of a room, the luxurious Hesper Room:

Located at the top of the stairs on the third floor of our historic Kennebunkport Bed and Breakfast, the room is a romantic oasis with decorating touches, including one of the most fabulously carved, four-poster queen beds in the Captain Lord Mansion! As you drift off to sleep while enveloped in the thickly-padded mattress, you can watch the flickering flames of your gas fireplace. Awake rejuvenated to the soft rays of the morning sun peeking around the shades on your three, east-facing windows. The Hesper bath will delight you as well, with sunlight illuminating the large, round, stained-glass window. Imagine soaking in the tub while sunlight plays colors from the window on the heated tile floor.

Merchant Suite:

The suite is a three room, spacious first floor suite with high ceilings. From the many tall windows in this accommodation, you can take in a view of the Village Green, a verdant park located in front of the inn. The expansive, sloping lawn separates the Inn from any traffic noise.

As part of your romantic experience in this suite, indulge yourself in the beautifully carved, high, four-poster king canopy bed from which you can appreciate both the toasty gas fireplace and 42″ Plasma cable TV. There’s also a Whirlpool tub for two, which is situated in front of another quick-warming gas fireplace.

Bev Davis and Rick Litchfield have been innkeepers for 35 years at the Captain Lord Mansion. It is in the heart of  Kennebunkport Maine with plenty of seaside sites and exquisite shops and restaurants nearby.
