The panel was moderated by Jupiter Research’s David Card, who throws out a few stats to the audience: Legal music downloads in 2006 brought in around $800 million. Subscription music services generated between $150 million and $180 million, equating to a digital music industry in the US worth close to a billion dollars.

Also on the panel were reps from Zing, MusicGremlin, eMusic, Microsoft’s Zune, Click-and-Buy and Sonific, who all represented various views on DRM.

Says Kyle on the results of a panel vote: If everyone shipped unprotected DRM, would that jump-start the industry? Unanimous yes.
