Every January, the New York Times Travel Show takes over the Jacob K. Javitts Center in New York City. This year from January 8-10 (Friday is trade day only), sponsors and exhibitors of will offer fun deals and giveaways exclusively on-site — see our earlier write-up on some of those promos and giveaways including cultural and culinary festivities taking place on-site.
NEW this year is a focus on another passion of mine — WELLNESS TRAVEL. This is also a growing area of the site if you’ve been noticing the increased coverage on health, wellness and mind/body awareness for travelers. The new Wellness Travel Feature will showcase wellness travel brands that attendees may experience first-hand at the Travel Show.
Wellness samplings will include:
- An aromatherapist from The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain, to help you identify your unique chakras
- A quick test to discover your dosha and personal Ayurvedic constitution from The Art of Living Retreat Center
- A close-up on the new Body Science program at the BodyHoliday, St. Lucia
- A 10-minute energy tune-up with colored light from the Color Spa
- Dr. Mariela de Silveira, of Kurotel Longevity Center and Spa, speaking on brain health
- A presentation on how to find the “best fit” wellness vacation and where to go in 2016
- Wellness travel experts talking about what’s new on the wellness travel scene
- 10 ways to work wellness into your next trip, courtesy of EVEN Hotels
- Fitness demos in the Mezzanine
As always, there will also be helpful travel tips from professionals at Meet the Experts, stage performances, book signings by notable writers, and the Taste of the World culinary pavilion, which offers samples of global cuisines and a “Kids Kitchen” for kids of all ages. Since food and wine is one of our top categories and a particular passion of mine, I absolutely love the Taste of the World part of the show. Performances are also very participatory and encourage attendees (and kids) to get involved on and off the stage.
