This year’s educational program for Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, a free festival in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park this weekend, kicked off yesterday and part of it was the Daniel Pearl World Music Days.
Thousands of Bay Area middle school students were entertained by MC Hammer and P.M.W. and will receive educational information about the importance of this month-long celebration through music.
The eleventh annual Daniel Pearl World Music Days, held October 1-31, 2013 invites musicians worldwide to participate in the global event and to use the power of Daniel’s love of music to help spread a message of hope and unity.
Some of the performers include Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band featuring Yungchen Lhamo, Bonnie Raitt, Seldom Scene, Jesse DeNatale, Jesse Dee, Buddy Miller & Jim Lauderdale, Mark Lanegan, Loudon Wainwright III, Patty Griffin, Robert Earl Keen, Alison Brown, The Jerry Douglas Band, Steve Earle & The Dukes, Manchester Orchestra, Freakwater, Low, Father John Misty, Calexico, Jake Bellows, The Cake Singers, The Felice Brothers, First Aid Kit and others.
The party doesn’t stop when the park goes dark. They have a bunch of great aftershows happening at Slim’s and the Great American Music Hall featuring some serious HSB13 talent.
