I discovered Vid Tjornina early on my trip to Iceland. Set in the center of downtown Reykjavik, it was an easy find and after reading that Reykjavik’s Grapevine Magazine voted it the best seafood restaurant a few years ago, I was eager to try it out.
They had a scrumptious celeriac soup with walnuts that I dove into with great joy. Also worth noting is the creamy fish soup and the auk with smoked sweet red apples, horseradish sauce and fried onions.
Other things worth noting on the list include Cod with Dijon and koniakssósu, Spicy Cod Tongues with tarragon sauce grass, Plaice with chives and dill sauce or the Grilled lobster with salad.
You can go for the creme caramel if you’re feeling decadent or their chocolate cake with whipped cream or a homemade Ice cream with caramel sauce and Estrago. Yum!
What is most interesting about the restaurant however is the style of the place. Set in an old house, each room is decorated differently and it’s charming to say the least. Take a visual walk with me.
