Would I do this if I were physically able to? I don’t know. Stop judging.
Continuing our week of critters on girl, guy, globe, here’s a buffalo from the Dakar zoo. While many of the animals at the zoo aren’t native to Senegal, this guy roams wild and free in the eastern part of the country. Well, not this guy specifically, because he’s stuck at the zoo, and if I could spring him from his fenced-in area, fit him into the back of my Toyota, and haul him to his native lands, I would.
In unrelated-yet-exciting news, my parents arrive in Dakar this weekend to spend six great days with us! I can’t wait to see them. I hope I’ve given them fair warning about Dakar. Don’t get me wrong – I’m happy here. I like it, and I’ve made a pact with myself to do as little Dakar-whining as possible. But it can be overwhelming at first, what with the loose goats and the burning trash and the horrible drivers. Regardless, it will be so great to have them here and just spend time with them. We’ve got lots of fun things planned: visiting Goree Island, celebrating Turkey Day, another 4-wheeling trip to Saly, and lots of other goodies.
