Swimming with Sharks

Comments Off on Swimming with Sharks

Summer is on its way here in Cape Town and with the sunshine and festive season come visitors from far and wide. If you’re planning on holidaying in Cape Town and surrounds, and are looking for some fantastic things to do, why not consider a swim with the sharks?

Cape Town is famous or its Great Whites, especially seeing as Seal Island is right off the False Bay coast. But if you want to really get close to one of these notorious yet beautiful creatures, there are tour operators specialising in Shark Cage Diving trips.

The White Shark Diving Co. can set you up with an experience of a lifetime – they offer you the chance to study the Great White Shark up close from the safety of their solid cage. If that’s too deep in the waters for you, you can relax on the deck of their cabin cruiser and still get the benefit of witnessing this magnificent animal in its natural habitat.

You’ll be whisked away on their 34ft Dive Cat deep-sea cabin cruiser along with only 19 other passengers (maximum) ensuring you get unlimited cage time below. The 6-man cage will allow you close contact with the Great Whites, or you can enjoy the stunning surface views from the upper deck.

You don’t need any diving certification and the ride out takes just 15-20 minutes (they anchor for approximately 4 hours). You’ll be provided with all the diving equipment you’ll need as well as an enjoyable light meal and refreshments.

If you want to show off to your friends and family about the encounter a there is a Completion Certificate available, and an additional DVD will be available of your daytrip (not included).

What’s really great about the White Shark Diving Co. is that they offer a free, open-ended cage diving trip in the (unlikely) event that no Great Whites are spotted on the day of your trip! Why not give them a call on 082 559 6858 and find out more?

When going on a boat trip like this it’s always good to be prepared:

  • Bring a windbreaker or warm jacket as it might get cold quickly.
  • Always wear sun block and a cap to avoid sunburn
  • Take your camera along (if you’re worried about getting your equipment wet, purchase a disposable underwater camera for the occasion)
