“Chelsea award-winner David Davidson is again responsible for the exquisite floral design that will blow your socks off. Wild flowers from all over the Overstrand will be showcased to delight you. Also hundreds of named floral specimens are on display for the botanists among us.

Fabulous indigenous plants are for sale from the Fernkloof Nursery.

Those of us who have had the pleasure of admiring the floral displays in the past, assume that this is our heritage and it will always be thus. However, biodiversity, both the floral and the animal kind, can only survive if we, the people on this earth, tread lightly on it. Biodiversity can only flourish where habitats are safe from human encroachment.

Living lightly on the earth – Sustainable Living

Most of us have heard about our carbon footprint and how we should adopt ‘sustainable lifestyles’. But what does it mean and how do we do it?

The Overstrand Conservation Foundation will show practical ways in which we can make our footprint light to keep our future bright.

Exhibits included ‘green’ building design and products; simple ideas and sophisticated technology to make our lifestyles more sustainable; indigenous gardening for animal habitats; organically produced and sustainably harvested goodies for sale; how to co-exist with wild animals and rehabilitate where we have failed (some may be touched and others definitely not); ongoing fun TV programmes. Plus … Information on sustainable living aplenty on posters and brochures and from experts in attendance at exhibits!
