Fish Hoek Main Road is Alive and Kicking

Comments Off on Fish Hoek Main Road is Alive and Kicking

The relaxed town of Fish Hoek is often misjudged as a sleepy village with little appeal.

However those that know the Hoek more intimately will argue that the seaside community has more than a few gems just waiting to be discovered by passers-by and foreigners.

There are a number of chic restaurants lining the main road and surrounds:

Café on Main offers hungry guests a heart-warming setting and good value for food. The new Barracuda is stylishly decorated and has some wonderful fish dishes on the menu while just up the road Shin Thai Restaurant is an oriental experience like no other; the food is fantastic. There is a new Greek eatery on the main road called Kostas Greek Souvlaki, which provides their guests with exotic tastes al la dolmades, tender lamb and specially made Greek savoury cakes. For an Italian taste bud the long-time Napoli Trattoria does pizza and lasagnes traditional-style.

For the shopper in you Fish Hoek won’t disappoint:

World Fashion and Hong Kong Fashion compete to provide you with contemporary clothing that teens and twenty-somethings will love. Fashion Express is a lovely place to stop off and try on some lovely items while AP Jones and Brands Emporium offer premium items for those with a bit more to spend. Beautiful Living stocks the most exquisite home décor items at alarmingly great prices and Secrets of Babylon is any jewellery-lover’s dream space.

For a quick cup of coffee visitors and locals are spoilt for choice:

Betty’s Coffee Shoppe has been going for years and has many regulars who enjoy sipping their hot drinks while watching people move around the Town Square. Daily Grind on the main road is a new addition and has a smart look with beautiful wooden tables outside on the pavement. The Nutshell Kitchen is more intimate, and is the re-incarnation of a popular bakery by the same name that closed own a few years ago. Also a definite must for the sweet-tooth is Cillie’s Sweetest Patisserie; their cheesecake is phenomenal.

For those who love a good bargain, the TEARS and the Hospice shop is the perfect place to browse for some unique gems while giving money to a good cause. Weavers stocks fine furniture and crockery that takes one back a few years and The Attic is full up of plates, cups, collectables and pieces of art.

For your sport requirements Jimmy Sports has pretty much every water sport item available, and if you’re in the mood for a bit of Kayaking, book a few lessons with Aquatrails.

Fish Hoek is a fine town buzzing with activity. Come on down and enjoy the warm sun on your face and the sea air in your lungs while you shop ‘til you drop.
