Comments Off on Exploring South African National Parks

South Africa is home to a magical array of wildlife big and small. With more than 20 National Parks to visit, your exploration of any one of these Parks will transport you into another world.

Two of the world’s most renowned Parks, the Kruger Park and the Kgalagadi Transfontier Park offer amazing wildlife experiences, however there are so many options that you won’t want for places to explore.

The Kruger Park is a self-drive destination meaning you would be the one in the driver’s seat while you amble along the plains. There are safaris on offer for those of you who want to sit back, relax and take in the scenery. They offer accommodation between 12 rest camps ranging from huts to bush lodges.

The Kgalagadi Transfontier Park is an amalgamation of the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park (South Africa) and the Gemsbok National Park (Botswana), and so spans an incredibly large 3,6million ha. With only 3 rest camps and an abundance of game, this haven is one for the avid photographer. Sparse vegetation, red sand dunes and the Auob & Nossob’s dry riverbeds create opportunities for amazing snapshots of the antelope and predator species.

There are many others to visit of course. The Addo Elephant National Park is sanctuary to over 450 elephants as well as Cape buffalo, black rhino and a variety of antelope species. The Garden Route offers its visitors a journey like none other – one of the most beautiful stretches of South African coastline just waiting to be experienced and explored. The visitor to the Mountain Zebra National Park, set in the craggy heights on the mountain, will enjoy vast, rolling plains and deep luscious valleys.

The choices are endless. Whether you want to traipse across flat plains, push through dense vegetation of capture the wild beast of South Africa with your long lens, there are ample parks to visit.
