The popular water-themed park in Durban, uShaka Marine World,  is a wonderful place to take the kids for a fun day spent splashing in the waters and coming face-to-face with some of the most intriguing underwater animals. And now there is even more reason to visit this fun park. The Buccaneers’ performance.

According to What’s On! Last year’s Buccaneers show was popular but this year’s performance is set to be a “swashbuckling sequel”. The audience is in for a rum-filled treat as they’re introduced to Captain Morgan Freeman and Delilah Winterbottom. The story follows the Captain’s soft-spot for the lady, his mysterious crew and an eventual marriage.

A musical that’s bound to have the peg-legs a stompin’ and the henchmen walking the plank, this is one performance you and the kids do not want to miss. And according to What’s On SA you even get dinner thrown into the deal.

As you meet each of the pop-star pirates (including Guns ‘n Roses’ Axel Rose, Kenny Rogers, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Dolly Parton) you’ll get to sing-a-long to some of the musical hits of the century. There’ll be numbers sang from Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, Sweet, Deep Purple and even the theme song from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

What’s great about this particular show is that ad-libbing and audience participation is encouraged, according to What’s On SA. Guests are given a number of pirate paraphernalia to choose from when they arrive, and this is their key to being a part of the craziness onboard the eventful evening ahead.

The cast is all-new with appearances from Christopher Dudgeon (Captain Morgan Freeman), Thokozani Nzima, Byron-Lee Olivato, Melissa Allison, Donnagh Roberts and Tyra Nielsen (who just happens to be a circus professional).

The show will run from 3-6 March and tickets will cost you R179 per person on Thursday to Saturday and it starts at 6:30pm. On Sunday the show starts at 2pm and tickets will cost you R150 per person.

If you feel like the risk of being made to “walk the plank” is too stressful for your heart then there are plenty other activities to enjoy while at the park. You can check out one of the shows which include dolphins and seals or watch as the sting rays get fed. Otherwise get your bathing costume on and lather your skin in sun cream before you spend a few splash-filled hours on the water rides. The Plunge freefall should get your heart-rate up and the Wet ‘n Wild Slides are perfect for some wave-like motions. No matter what you do, enjoy it!
