At the PEPCOM Media event in New York City earlier this month, I discovered a cool new bluetooth surround sound speaker from Cobra Electronics. They have utilized Bluetooth wireless technology to enhance lifestyle products with the Cobra AirWave Series.
The models Cobra AirWave 360, AirWave Box and AirWave Mini are all enhanced with Bluetooth technology and designed to be a hands-free portable speaker and speakerphone.
The Cobra AirWave 360 is a portable 8” Bluetooth surround sound speaker that features Siri/S Voice enablement and gesture control for enhanced 360-degree sound quality with up to 20 hours of music playback.
What’s cool about it is that it looks like a coffee cup and can fit comfortably and seamlessly in your car cup holder. The Cobra AirWave Mini features a weatherproof resistant exterior (JIS4), while the Cobra AirWave Box utilizes a rugged, floating-waterproof design (JIS7) for immersion in water and features a rechargeable battery and soft-touch rubber wrap for extra guarded protection. Both the AirWave Box and AirWave Mini have up to ten hours of music playback and up to 120 hours of standby time.
I am testing it out in my car first and foremost, where it will sit in the coffee cup holder so I can mainly use it as a speaker phone for making hands-free calls. My goal thereafter is to test it out in the house or other places on the go. I love the design and it’s sturdy and solid, so you never get the feeling that it won’t be able to handle the duress of travel.
The Cobra AirWave 360 is priced at around $129.99, the Cobra AirWave Mini is priced around $39.99 and the Cobra AirWave Box is available in May 2014 for a retail price of $79.99.
