I began 2013 with great uncertainty, as compared to years prior. Life threw many curve balls my way, which included a relationship along the way. My infatuation, which took me on a long road trip through the American desert, did not ever lead me to love. But the heartbroken fallout in which I found myself as I saw the proverbial writing on the wall did motivate me to take my long-planned trip to Sri Lanka, where I found emotional resolution under unexpected circumstances.
In July, I flew to Montréal and then on to Québec’s famed Gaspé peninsula. Less than a month later I was off to Brussels, where I kicked off a two-month European rail trip, which I followed up with two weeks in Israel. Below, is a look back on 2013 — 50 photos that defined my year.
