Brockville, Ontario is getting in touch with history and bringing it to life this June. The Tall Ships 1812 Tour will feature 13 ships, vessels from the Clayton Antique Boat Museum, as well as Dinner Charts and Sail outs on the Empire Sandy. The event will also feature a performance by the Great Lake Swimmers, fireworks, hot air balloon rides, and fun of course.
From June 14 to September 2, the Tall Ships will travel through 16 Ontario ports, including Brockville, Toronto, Hamilton, Port Dalhousie, Sault Ste. Marie, Owen Sound, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Penetanguishene, Midland, Discovery Harbour, Windsor, Amherstburg, Leamington, Kingsville and Pelee Island.
Brockville is the First Port of Call on the tour and will be combining other events into the June 14 to June 16 event. As a part of embracing more history they will feature multi media fusion, Flames of War , that will tell visitors the story of the War of 1812. In addition to this history reach the event will feature Akwesasne Travel Troupe, a period military encompment, as well as a glimpse of St. Lawrence’s newest Shakespeare Festival, Maid for a Musket.
In addition to the already exciting weekend, Brockville will also be hosting its’ fourth annual 1000 Islands Wine and Food Festival June 14 and 15. The weekend will also feature 1000 Islands Jazz & Blues Festival.
