..Menorca, 24 June. Fiesta de Sant Juan. Throughout Cataluña this is a big festival. In Ciutadella in Menorca they have their own traditon called the ‘Jaleo’. There are many events which lead up to the official procession of riders through the city to the Mayoral Office where they display their riding skill and receive blessing for the Equestrian Games which follow. It is a melee of hooves and heads and astonishingly, no-one lost an eye!! Spectacular!
