Below is a list of bars and clubs for nightlife in Budapest, so if you want to rock well into the evening, here’s a list of options for you to choose from with a little background on each.
Pezsegő Bar in Budapest is a little, fancy place in the city center surrounded by several other bars. The speciality of this bar is champagne and wine which is really excellent. It seems that this place is a little in bar for rich people and those who would like to be, a bit poshy and snobbish but I have to admit that I felt great there. You can also have nice dinners there served really excellent and well tasting as well.
Also very good is the DJ who is playing lounge type of music rather for the background than for dancing but going well with the style of the bar and not too loud so you still can have a chat with your people.
To be honest there is not too much to write about Pezsegő Bar Budapest except from that it is a really nice and cosy place to have a drink with friends and have a chat. On fridays and saturdays it is recommended to reserve a table in advance since the seats in Pezsegő are limited. The entire bar is not too large so it might be that you have to stand in the crowd trying to reach the bar to have one of the fantastic champagnes or wines.
There are of course other drinks served as well like cocktails, beer and soft drinks. For food I recommend you to check out the website of Pezsegő Bar in Budapest. So if you want to have a cosy evening with friends I recommend to go to Pezsegő and if it is crowded there are other places areound to jump in for a drink.
Pezsegő Bar Budapest Information:
Hajós utca 25., 1065 Budapest

Menta Terasz Budapest
Menta Terasz in Budapest is a location where you can find everything from decent food, a very nice garden, a lounge and a club. The food they offer is this typical international style where you can get a bit from everywhere and some more from Hungary. The location of Menta Terasz is very nice and cosy even though it is situated on one of the roads with the highest traffic on Buda side, the Margit Körut.
Gödör Klub Budapest
As I am writing this review about Gödör Klub I am actually sitting in here having a beer and enjoying the free WiFi to post this review. Gödör Klub in Budapest is located in the very heart of Budapest right on Déak Tér, actually under it. The indoor area is under a little lake which is near Déak Tér, the outdoor part is on the stairs bringing you down the club.
Bar Domby
Fine drinks and style!
Bar Domby is for sure one of the classiest bars in Budapest. It has the typical New York look and feel in black and gold interior with large, high mirrors hanging on the wall. The atmosphere is good and bar Domby seems to be crowded whenever you go there.
Bar & Café Minyon in Budapest
Style and flair
The bar Minyon in Budapest is located in one of the upcoming areas of Budapest downtown, Király utca. In Király utca more and more bars, cafes and restaurants open up which all are styled well, serve good food and offer great cocktails. Bar Minyon is one of those. The interior reminds me of some lounge style straight from New York or London, modern a bit sterile but comfortable on every place.
The interesting thing about Bar Minyon is that on fridays and saturdays at 11 o’clock the bar turns into a club with dance floor, lound live music and a bar as long as the place itself. I haven’t been there for the club time but I heart that it is good.
Bar Galaxia
I read on Johnnyjet.com a review about Bar Galaxia in Budapest which made me curious about this bar. So I searched further on Google for Bar Galaxia and found tons of information and frustrated people who went there together and got ripped off. The price was between 50.000 HUF and up to 260.000 HUF for a couple of drinks.
Bar ApaCuka
Stylish Szimpla
And another Szimpla Kert type of bar in Budapest yet a bit more stylish and modern. ApaCuka is in the center of the city but almost not findable. ApaCuka is in Horánsky utca which the taxi driver (40 years in business) and I never heart before. A quick look at the map tells it is near Blaha Luiza Tér.
Open Air Clubs in Budapest
Holdudvar, Szimpla kert, Buddha Beach!
Budapest offers many open air clubs in summer. In the last couple years a lot of new clubs opened up in backyards, at the Danube or in old manufacturing factory sides.
Famous for Budapest are the “kert” which is a backyard in a house complex or just a place like a beer garden. Every year new places come up and offer beer, wine, food and just everything you need for a nice evening. The ambience is very chilly most of the time candles are burning and there are places to lie down or chill. The prices in kerts are quite cheap compared to regular clubs and discos. Beer is usually a round 1-1,5 Euro for 0,4 liters. Wine is also very cheap. Mixed drinks are a little bit more expensive but still affordable.
Some of those kerts turn into a club at night with music and dance floor and some stay a chilly place outside. Also clubs like Buddha beach, Rio or Zöld pardon are open air place but give the opportunity to dance and are not as chilly as the kérts. If you come to Budapest in summertime you will automatically go to an Open Air place because everybody will go there. Quiet popular these days are open air places like Romkert or West Balkan which have a special flair.
Bar Instant Budapest
Backyard alternative!
Bar Instant seems not to be around for too long but the place is really good. Instant in Budapest is quite similar to Szimpla Kert or other backyard bars and the people going there are the same as well. A bit alternative, come down but good place to hang out for the evening.
Monyó Café & Bar
Coffee, drinks and music
Sine a long time I haven’t been to Cafe Monyó in Budapest simply because the Metro 4 construction is hiding this good bar. I used to go regularyl to Cafe Monyó because in the evening you could have nice drinks combined with good music. Since Metro 4 is build on Kalvin Tér Cafe Monyó has the worst place you can imagine as it is in a dead end where nobody is passing. Sad for them and other people because nobody can find it.
Ba Bar Budapest
Bar and Lounge!
Ba Bar in Budapest is a nice styled bar near Keleti railway station but in total there is nothing special about Ba Bar. It seems that the owners wanted to create a new In point but honestly it is not. Nevertheless it is a nice place to have a beer or a cocktail and start in the night. The prices are slightly above average but affordable.
Bar Jelen Budapest
Jazzy, cosy, cool!
The bar Jelen in Budapest is a quiet nice place near Blaha Lujza Tér on the backside of Corvintető. The inside is a bit 70s style and very cosy with good Jazz music playing not too loud in the background. Sometimes there are live concerts of all kinds of music.
Bar Negro
Negro the place to be!
Bar Negro in Budapest is one of the posh places in town. Located behind the Basilica it is in top location. Nevertheless the interior is not too nice but on weekends Bar Negro is crowded as hell. You will find a lot of expats and young girls in there. the price level is above average but still affordable.
Adress:
Szent István tér 11 (Behind Basilica)
District 5, 1051 Budapest
Phone: +36 1 373 0391
Bar Kuplung Budapest
Table tennis, arts and beer!
Bar Kuplung in Budapest is a very new place but already discovered by many people. Located in Kiraly utca it is in between Liszt Ference ter, Deak ter and other well visited places in Budapest. Kuplung looks like a rotten place and is hidden behind a small entrance which you would never find or even see if nobody told you.
Bar Oscar Budapest
Almost award winning!
Oscar Budapest is one of these bars which look kind of inconsiderable but once the place is full there is a party going on you don’t see often. The first look tells you ” Ah bar, turn around and go somewhere else” but the later the night the better the party.
Bar Szoda
Siphon, relax and popcorn!
Bar Szoda in Budapest is a nice little bar in Wessélenyi utca. The bar is devided in two floors. The upper bar consists of chairs, sofas and tables where you can have a drink or sandwich plus you can eat popcorn and drink soda water from a siphon for free. Szoda is a very comfortable place with silent music where people meet to talk and have a chat.
ChaChaCha Budapest
Underground, drinks and good music!
Chachacha in Budapest has a new place in Budapest since the construction works are running on Kalvin tér. The new place for Chachacha is near Nyugati pályaudvar and West End City Center. ChaChaCha still has a very special atmosphere. For me one of the best places in town to start the evening with a beer for 300HUF (0,4 liter) which is approximately 1,20€. Every day of the week another DJ is showing up and mixing at the turntables. It starts quiet and easy in the early afternoon but gets loud later the night.
Posh, small, excellent!
Miniatür Budapest is a little posh place in the Buda hills. The 2. district is known as one of the best in Budapest and that is where Bar Miniatür is. From the outside it looks like a little private club with naked women but inside it is decorated like a theatre with red sofas and chairs. In fact Miniatür is quiet expensive but that makes sure you don’t have strange people in there.
Creol Budapest | Caribbean Bar, Restaurant, Club
High prices, high society
The bar Creol in Budapest has a very prominent location. At Roosewelt tér Creol is located near the Danube, next to high quality hotels and in the city centre. Therefore bar Creol has its prices which are far above average and can compete with London, Paris or Berlin. The cheapest beer you can get is 1000 HUF (4 Euro) for a 0,33l Amstel which ist 2-3 times as much as you usually pay for a 0,5l beer in a regular bar.
