This morning I spent an entire 1.5 hour flight writing a blog post about patience. It was all about how I have always struggled with the idea of waiting. And I used the example of a bike ride that taught me how sometimes waiting can bring you your expectations and then some.
Then I accidentally deleted the entire thing.
My first reaction was disbelief. Then my next reaction was sadness for a beautiful thing destroyed by my own carelessness. And finally I was overwhelmed with apathy thinking I would never be able to recreate it.
Then as I sat wallowing in the stew of my own self-inflicted barrage of negative self-talk I realized the irony of it all. Here I had written a blog post that was going to explain to all of you how patience with the unplanned obstacles that thwart us sometimes leads to an even more important experience or lesson — and I couldn’t even take my own advice.
Fate can sometimes be a very cruel mistress indeed.
So you’ll have to patiently wait a bit longer on that blog post about patience. But I’m betting that your patience will pay off — as will mine.
