The Caribbean has no shortage of top notch hotels and resorts and Trinidad & Tobago is no exception. Below is a list of five we think are worth testing out. As always, if you have a positive or negative experience at any of these or others in the same category, let us know. Feel free to comment and extend the conversation in any way that will help other travelers out.
1. The Bacolet Beach Club (left):
The Bacolet Beach Club is an exclusive boutique Hotel, restaurant and bar that is more intimate in size compared to many of the four and five star ‘chains’ nearby.
It was created by former fashion model Gloria Jones-Knapp, who has come up with a blend of luxury, simplicity and natural beauty with serene views of the ocean.
is a deliberately restful and luxurious property enjoying an idyllic crescent-bay setting on an island blessed with exceptional natural beauty.
2. Hyatt Regency Trinidad:
If chains and high rise hotels are more your thing, then check out the Hyatt which is a tall hovering hotel in the prestigious Port of Spain International Waterfront Development. It boasts location, location and location, as it is easy walking distance to the city center and central business district. Says it is only full service hotel located on the water.
3. The Magdalena Grand Beach Resort:
This gem, which is nestled in the tropical Tobago Plantations Estate, is a 750-acre gated community of luxury villas, condos and bungalows around the Tobago Plantations. It also has a PGA designed Championship (18 holes) golf course. Situated along two and one-half miles of beach, the resort has some lovely nature trails and canopy walks through a virgin mangrove forest. A little tidbit that is worth noting: “Magdalena” was the original name of Tobago, derived from the name of one of Christopher Columbus’ ships, and the name pays homage to the island’s rich history, tradition, and people.
4. Coco Reef:
Coco Reef is a luxury class hotel which is alongside its very own beach. Full of trees and tropical gardens, their secluded Sunset Villa, is a great choice for newlyweds and other romantics. They tout magestic and glorious views of the Caribbean Sea and inside the hotel, you are wowed by arched entrances and terra cotta tiled stairways.
