Fitzroy, Victoria

Fitzroy is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 2 km north-east from Melbourne’s Central Business District. Its Local Government Area is the City of Yarra. At the 2011 Census, Fitzroy had a population of 9,430. Planned as Melbourne’s first suburb, it was later also one of the city’s first areas to gain municipal status. Its borders are Alexandra Parade (north), Victoria Parade (south), Smith Street (east) and Nicholson Street.
