Built like an alpine chateau, with two graduated levels to offer an unimpeded view for every patron, the main restaurant at The Edgewood Tahoe boasts tables which look directly out across the lake, with the unparalleled view framed by sweeping wooden archways and vaulted ceilings. Diners have only a few dozen feet of white sand between their tables and the lake water. Executive Chef Frank Stagnaro is the artist behind this top notch restaurant which is conveniently located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe.
Appetizers like the Seared Diver Scallops in a lobster sauce and the Tian of Marinated Ahi push diners in exciting new directions, while everyday specials make resourceful use of local produce and seafood. Dishes like fresh Cypress Island Salmon with sweet dungeness crab or Fresh Ahi Tuna with wasabi crème illustrate the restaurant’s range.
The property is most known for its golf course, anniversaries and private parties and hosts conferences and events as well. Edgewood Tahoe has a long tradition of being the premier special event venue in the area as well, which our host noted on a couple of occasions.
Since our trip was finalized last minute, we ended up dining here for lunch, rather than dinner, and opted for the Brooks Bar & Deck, which given that it is adjacent to the main restaurant, it also has stunning views, whether you sit inside or out.
The outside patio at Brook’s Bar & Deck is the place to be at if the weather cooperates, which it did during our visit. It was beautiful and sunny with crisp blue skies, which couldn’t have been a more perfect day to lounge outside for a long lunch, especially given the fabulous views from all sides. Ahhh, bliss!
The luncheons are simple but delicious and range from delicious salads and sandwiches to pastas and burgers. The chicken skewers are to die for! And, as you can see, the portions are quite generous!
One other things to note is that you can rent a private luxury home on-site. “Twin Pines” is a 4,000 square foot, luxury lakefront home with it’s own 180 yards of private beach and a private pier and features an expansive back yard lawn and a shaded terrace for warm lazy afternoons.
For those that need to stay connected, high-speed wireless internet is available throughout the property. The main house has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, and two wood burning fireplaces.
Designed by renowned architect Julia Morgan, this classic 2 1/2 acre Lake Tahoe estate is great for company retreats or families in need of a deluxe escape, Twin Pines is a dream come true for any visitor to South Lake Tahoe. We do not allow weddings or other large events at this property. Twin Pines is located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, just behind the casinos at the state line and adjacent to the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.
Note: We were hosted by the local tourism board and restaurant, but all opinions expressed here are entirely our own.
